The Mummies Tummies pregnancy belly cast kit is very unique. Made of plaster gauze, it is an exact replica of your pregnant form. Making a pregnancy belly cast is a simple and fun project that can be done in the privacy of a moms home in about 30 minutes.
There are no mixing of messy materials and the end result is a 3D memento of an expecting moms belly or torso. A belly cast is created by applying several layers of wet plaster strips to the front of moms body. After the strips have set, they will hold her shape and the belly cast will come away from her body and she will capture how beautiful she looked during her pregnancy.
Our pregnancy belly cast kit includes the following:
- 4 rolls of premium-quality casting material.
- Tube of Vaseline.
- Drop cloth.
- Latex Gloves
- Wash cloth for clean up.
- Soap for clean up.
- Candles for a relaxing environment.
- Step-by-Step Detailed Instructions.
After a pregnancy belly cast is made, it should be stored in a dry area until it completely dries out. This usually takes a couple of days. How to decorate your dried cast depends on your taste. You can leave it as is and hang it up (you can easily poke a couple of holes in the top and tread a pretty ribbon through the holes), you can buy a shadow box to display it in or you can apply gesso to reinforce and seal the cast and then decorate it as desired.
Some ideas include applying sequins, feathers, dried flowers, photos or small pretty cut stones or glass. A very popular idea is to wait until your baby is born and apply paint to his or her hands and feet and put the prints on the cast. Your imagination is the limit!
Have fun!
